Symbolic Expression of DREAM
2. DREAM may be expressed as follows:
D - DIET
R - REST
E - EXERCISE
A - ALTERNATIVE CARE
M - MOTIVATION
3. The dream is a symbolic expression of real life concerns about the ability to solve any sorts of problems. Sometime situation compels us to characterize the dream as a nightmare, recalling that, it kept ourselves burning the nights fuel many a days.
4. According to current theories, dreaming is:
a. Form of memory processing that aids in the consolidation of learning.
b. Means by which our minds work through difficult, complicated thoughts, emotions and experiences.
c. A way our brains respond to biochemical changes and electrical impulses.
5. Dreams. A dream is a succession of images, ideas, emotions and sensations that usually occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. The content and purpose of dreams are not fully understood, although they have been a topic of scientific, philosophical and religious interest throughout recorded history. Dream interpretation is the attempt at drawing meaning from dreams and searching for an underlying message. The scientific study of dreams is called oneirology.
6. Memory. It is the ability to remember past experiences or learned information, involving advanced mental processes such as learning, retention, recall, and recognition and resulting from chemical changes between neurons in several different areas of the brain, including the hippocampus.
7. Emotions. Emotion is any conscious experience characterized by intense mental activity and a certain degree of pleasure or displeasure. Scientific discourse has drifted to other meanings and there is no consensus on a definition. Emotion is often intertwined with mood, temperament, personality, disposition, and motivation.
Summary
8. The dream is likely a means of coping with a major life stress. Although some researchers believe dreams are just a byproduct of sleep, others think dreams are important for memory consolidation or conflict resolution. Dreams may also help with mood regulation. Dreams occur during both REM (rapid-eye-movement) and non-REM sleep, but sleep studies show that brain activity is heightened during REM periods. When sleep and study participants are wakened during the first non REM pd, those who recall their dreams tend to report thinking about a piece of emotional unfinished business. The dreamer may then restate or reshape the prob in a different form during the next REM cycle and so on.
9. Dreaming is a fundamental human process to make sense of all the paradoxical stressful, emotional experiences that we've encountered in waking life. It's a way of integrating all our past experiences with what we aspire to do in the future. Recent study and research has found as to why we dream.
Function of Dream
10. Scientists found that there are three main areas of the brain that become activated when dreaming. The parts to do with storytelling, fulfilling needs and resolving emotional tension. The brain is incredibly active in this state. There's no true consensus about the biological function of dreaming but recent research from suggests dreaming actually serves to preserve sleep. When we dream we process and deflect stimuli which would otherwise wake us up.

Learning From Dream
11. Gaining insight into dreams, by understanding that a dream is not happening to you, and you're the one creating everything in it, you realise that the dream is the ultimate selfie. A dream is just a dream until you put it into action. Dreams, particularly recurring ones, can give you a decent insight into waking life. There's no such thing as a bad dream. And although it can be a really scary experience. The dream isn't necessarily bad, it's just some information from yourself. When you continually create dreams that are quite disturbing for you, it doesn't mean you're disturbed in waking life. All it means is you're trying to get through to yourself.
12. Overloaded Sleep. It is normal to dream but if your sleep is overloaded with them, it won't be very restorative and you'll wake up exhausted. REM dreaming can increase before your period and also during the full moon phase. A good night's sleep and a good state of well being is indicated by the right amount of dreaming sleep and the right amount of deep sleep. It's not easy to measure this but a good indicator is waking up in the morning feeling refreshed and optimistic.
13. Alcohol Addiction. As for other factors that can affect our dreaming, alcohol is a key one and it might make you have more disturbing dreams. It's very tempting to have a couple of glasses of wine before you go to bed because it makes you sleep. But although alcohol starts off as a sedative, as your body starts to process it, it turns into an aldehyde which is actually a stimulant. So once you've put yourself to sleep while drinking, about four hours later, you're wide awake.
14. Fatty Foods. Cheese itself probably won't cause nightmares, like the old wives' tale goes, but it will make you restless during the night and you'll create more disturbing dream content.
15. Following rules may be adhered to have a sound sleep and better dream:
a. Remove technological apparatus from the bedroom and ensure the room is sufficiently dark, quiet, clean and not too warm.
b. Don't drink alcohol before hitting the bed.
c. Reduce consuming tea and caffeine in the afternoon.
d. Create a dream diary - you might be able to see patterns emerging and use these to help process real life.
Dreams Help Reducing Depression
16. Sleeping and rest is beneficial for health. Dreaming also help alleviate depression. In sleep studies on few recently divorced women with untreated clinical depression, some were found that patients who recalled dreams and incorporated the ex spouse or relationship into their dreams scored better on tests of mood in the morning. And they were much more likely to recover from depression than others who either did not dream about the marriage or could not recall their dreams.

17. The beginnings of diseases and other distempers which are about to visit the body must be more evident in the sleeping state. There are nerves coming to the brain from every part of the body and they relay the signals of impending illness that the subconscious translates into dreams. That changes in dream content could reliably predict oncoming physical illness is somewhat controversial, though research supporting the role of somatic and sensory influences on dream content is well supported.
