Rock Legend Musician Ayub Bachchu Passed Away

1. Bangladeshi singer, guitarist and songwriter Ayub Bachchu (16 August 1962 – 18 October 2018) was a Bangladeshi musician, best known as the founding member of rock band LRB. He was initially a member of the band Feelings and later he joined the band Souls as lead guitarist. He was one the most influential figures in Bangladeshi rock music. He who popularised rock music in Bangladesh along with his band LRB (Love Runs Blind), has been an integral part of the Bangladeshi rock music scene for more than 25 years. He died of cardiac failure in Dhaka on 18th October 2018 at the age of 56 in Square Hospital of Bangladesh.

Early Life and Career

2. Ayub Bachchu was born in Chittagong on 16 August 1962. He was a student of Government Muslim High School in Chittagong. He started his music career there with the band Feelings in 1978. From 1980 to 1990, he was a member of Souls as the lead guitarist. In 1991, he formed his own band, LRB. LRB released its first album as a double album, which contained hard rock songs like "Ghum Vanga Shohore", "Madhobi", "Hoker", "Sesh Cithi" "Keno Amon Cithi Hoy", "Happy" and "Dhakar Sondha" etc.

3. In 1993, LRB released their album "Sukh". It contained hard rock, blues, rock songs like "Sukh", "Gotokal Rate", "Khoniker Jonno", "Cholo Bodle Jai", "Known as Sei Tumi", "Haste Dekho Gaite Dekho", and "Rupali Guiter". "Cholo Bodle Jai" is one of the greatest hits in Bangladeshi music written by Bachchu.

4. Bachchu collaborated with Radio Foorti to bring the new talents and fresh voices to spotlight by giving them platform to perform and shine.

Personal Life

5. Bachchu was married to Ferdous Ayub Chandana. The couple had two children - a son named Fairuj, who is currently studying in Canada and a daughter named Tazwar who resides in Australia.

Death

6. Bachchu was admitted to the CCU of a hospital in Dhaka on 27 November 2012 for the accretion of water in his lungs. He recovered after receiving treatment. Ayub died of cardiac failure in Dhaka on 18 October 2018 at the age of 56. He was taken to Square Hospital around 9:16 AM where he was declared dead.

7. Bachchu performed live with Richard & Le Gang (France); Remo Fernandez, Nandon Bugchi, and Bikram Gosh of India; and Azam Khan, Feelings (now Nogor Baul), Miles (band), Warfaze. He appeared as a judge on IIM Joka 'Rock Fest' (India), Benson and Hedges Star Search 1 and 2, and DRockstar 1. Ayub Bachchu is renowned for his musical scoring of television commercials. He has worked as a music director for the Azam Khan, Niloy Das, Khalid Hasan Milu, Shaikh Ishtiaqe, Nasim Ali Khan, Tapan Chowdhury (Singer), Hasan Abedur Reza Jewel, Alam Ara Minu, Rupom, Jholo, and many others. He was one the panel judges of Bangladeshi Idol.

Honor

8. He was honoured at the IIM Joka “Rock Fest” in India , Benson and Hedges Star Search 1 and 2, DRockstar 1 and many other local competitions as a judge. 

Works

9. LRB started playing live gigs in the following years and ushered in a new chapter in the history of music in Bangladesh. With its eagerness to create something revolutionary, LRB debuted with a double album in 1992. LRB performed more than thousands of gigs; more than 500 of which were open air concerts. LRB’s first international gig was a seven-state tour of the US. LRB is the only Bangali rock bto have performed their music at Madison Square Garden in New York. In Europe the band played its first show in Austria in 2002. They have performed at Wembley Arena in London, Alan Garden in London , and Fort Canyon Park stage in Singapore. LRB performed many Indian stages including Salt Lake Stadium (Rock Jugalbandi Part 1 and 2), Science City Theater, Alpha Bangla, ETV Bangla, Najrul Manch, Rabindra Shorobor, Guru Nanak University (Jodhpur), Haldia Utshab, and Durgapur University. LRB proudly performed in: Qatar, Dubai, Hong-Kong, Cyprus and almost all over the world.
