Intro

William Henry Gates (born October 28, 1955) is an American business magnate, investor, author, philanthropist, humanitarian and co-founder of the Microsoft Corporation along with Paul Allen. In 1975, Gates and Allen launched Microsoft, which became the world's largest PC software company. During his career at Microsoft, Gates held the positions of chairman, CEO and chief software architect, while also being the largest individual shareholder until May 2014. Gates stepped down as chief executive officer of Microsoft in January 2000, but he remained as chairman and created the position of chief software architect for himself. In June 2006, Gates announced that he would be transitioning from full time work at Microsoft to part time work and full time work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Here are some Lessons to learn from Bill Gates:

1 . Learn From Failure and Mistakes. It doesn’t matter how much mistakes you’ve made or the number of setbacks you’ve encountered, persistence never goes unpaid. Learn from your mistakes and pick yourself up afresh. “It’s fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure.” – Bill Gates.

2. Don't Be Distracted By Success. Do not allow past success make you lose your focus. Progress should be a continual process.

3. Time Is More Valuable Than Money. Have the wisdom in properly prioritizing tasks that are more likely to yield the most productive results of time spent.

4. Start Immediately. Do you have an idea, a dream or a vision? Then you shouldn’t waste time about it. Start as early  as early as possible.

5. Be Your Own Boss. It will put you in an excellent position with pure control over his success. Build your own dream.

6. Be Committed and Passionate. Do what you love. Find things you enjoy doing. Don't find things too stressful and too hard.

7. Life Is The Best School. No matter how many books you read, no matter how many tests you take, nothing from university or college can properly prepare you for life in the real world. Real life jobs and bosses does not just involve you studying and them teaching you. It’s real life work that you need to be able to carry out, otherwise you will be fired.

8. TV Is Not Real Life. Real life is tough and anybody who’s anywhere near successful will not be sitting around watching TV or in coffee shops all day talking to their friends. They will be out working the grind to pay their bills and improve their financial situation. “Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.” – Bill Gates.

9. Life is Not Fair. No matter how hard you work in life, there will always be times where things don’t go your way, perhaps through no fault of your own. You will get knocked down, but you need to be able to stand up. Life isn’t fair. It’s a test, a game, a risk. If you fall down and don’t bother getting back up, you don’t deserve to be successful. Winners know that life isn’t fair and they will keep getting back up until they’ve made it. “Life is not fair. Get used to it.” – Bill Gates.

10. Be Ready To Take Risks. Starting a business is a little bit like gambling, you’re not always sure if you’ll win or not. However, the only difference is that you can strategize and plan well enough to ensure the success of your business.

12. Never Fast Forward Your Way to Success. It takes time to build an empire and a lifetime of sacrifice to keep the consistency going. “Patience is a key element of success.” – Bill Gates.

13. Be Proud Of Who You Are. Many people get frustrated because they’re not as smart, rich or talented as the person they look up to. Each person has their own unique abilities and you have to accept that to become successful. If you start to appreciate yourself and what you can offer, you will be more confident to do things your own way. “Don’t compare yourself with anyone in this world, if you do so, you are insulting yourself.” – Bill Gates.

14. Be Humble At All Times. It’s great to dream of success and all that comes with it. However, if you let it get into your head and start to think that you’re untouchable, that is not what you call success. Life is a wheel, it’s unpredictable. You can be on top today, but at the bottom the next. It’s best to stay humble at all times and never forget what got you there in the first place. “Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can’t lose.” – Bill Gates.

15. Take Things Positively And Love Learning. Learn from your mistakes and shortcomings and use that as a catalyst to be the best in what you do. “Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning.” – Bill Gates.

16. Share Your Success With Others. A true successful entrepreneur will support and share his or her knowledge to other aspiring entrepreneurs, giving them the encouragement and inspiration they need. “As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others.” – Bill Gates.
