Top Leadership Qualities of a Country - Holy Quran
QUALITY LEADER


General

1. National election of our country is nearby. It seems, we people are afraid of the situation. But we need to have full trust on Almighty Allah and Holy Quran. I like and love my country like many people. So definitely we all must think for the good of our country and that's what always happen. Truth be told, no Army, Police, powerful politician, whoever and whatever can do nothing against the positiveness. Noone in this earth is powerful. Someday soon we all have to get the taste of death. It is universal truth and no one will be able to escape that. We all are tiny human being comparing with the too small a planet that we live. Be confirm - all will be judged as per their deeds. It is unfortunate that we are illiterate about Holy Quran and Almighty Allah. So we intend to change the meaning of Quran to fit in with our own deeds. Almighty Allah will keep everything in order. So we don't have to be afraid of anything. We need to be honest in our thinking. We have to put the full trust on Almighty Allah and His words. 

Common People

2. It seems to me that the normal and most of the people of our country are not properly educated in selecting their leader. That's why they select their wrong leader. Putting full trust on Almighty Allah and his desire may be a solution in this regard. 

Perception on Death

3. We poor and illiterate people think that we will never die but that is the ultimate destination of any living creature. Remembering that we’ll be dead soon is the most important tool we may encounter to help us to make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all power, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that we are going to die is the best way to avoid the trap of thinking that we have something to lose. There is no reason not to follow our heart.

4. Leader of a country who mainly runs administrative tasks of a country must posses some qualities of leadership including qualities of personal character and the ability to motivate others towards the realization of specific goals are on top of the list. Leadership qualities can easily understand from Holy Quran and Sunnah.

Leader has to be Sinless

5. Perhaps the leadership is just whoever is appointed by the people, and it is not a divine appointment. So either the leader is appointed by Allah, and then they must be followed. If that is the case the leader must be sinless and protect from sin. If the leader is not appointed, then how and who should be the leader? No such guidance has been outlined in the Holy Quran or the Sunnah. However, lets assume this is the case, and Allah does not appoint the leader, but they are to be followed. If that is the case, may be the leader is bad, and evil? Such a leader should not be obeyed. In such a scenario there is an inherent contradiction. Firstly, to have such a position acknowledges that there is a concept of authority, the dispute is who occupies the role. If the role exists and Allah wants us to obey the person in the role, surely the person should be suitable for the role?

6. Almighty Allah and His Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has guided humanity in every aspect of life. They have also guided us in matters of selection of our leader who can lead us. Everyone has different perceptions related to the choice of leadership. But we have to consider Quran and Sunnah when we have to specify leadership qualities of our leader. In Holy Quran, Allah Almighty says: “And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We inspired them to do good works, and to observe the prayer, and to give out charity. They were devoted servants to Us” (Quran, 21:73).

Summary of Above Verse

7. From the above verse of Holy Quran, we concluded that it is Allah Almighty who appoints the leader. It is not selected by anyone, nor given in a will, nor established by the committee. The role of the leader is also summarized, to guide and establish the Islamic society. 

Details of the Verse

8. The main aspects of leadership are Knowledge and Power as mentioned in Holy Quran: 

“Have you not considered the assembly of the Children of Israel after [the time of] Moses when they said to a prophet of theirs, “Send to us a king, and we will fight in the way of Allah “? He said, “Would you perhaps refrain from fighting if fighting was prescribed for you?” They said, “And why should we not fight in the cause of Allah when we have been driven out from our homes and from our children?” But when fighting was prescribed for them, they turned away, except for a few of them. And Allah is Knowing of the wrongdoers. And their prophet said to them, “Indeed, Allah has sent to you Saul as a king.” They said, “How can he have kingship over us while we are more worthy of kingship than him and he has not been given any measure of wealth?” He said, “Indeed, Allah has chosen him over you and has increased him abundantly in knowledge and stature. And Allah gives His sovereignty to whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing [in favor] and Knowing.” (Quran, 2:246-247). 

9. From the above verse of Holy Quran, we came to know that Knowledge guides the leader to the right path he is able to assimilate the situation wisely due to his knowledge and then after penetrating the situation he should have the power to take decision accordingly. If he does not have power than he is unable to implement his decisions. That’s why he should have both power and knowledge. Power specifies the psychological decision and physical power. Besides knowledge and power justice, patience and sound judgments are also important attributes which should be possessed by the leader.

10. Being a Muslim we all are leaders in some aspects as mentioned by Holy Prophet (SAW) in one of His hadith in these words: “All of you are shepherds, and each of you will be asked concerning his flock” (Bukhari). Leadership is about teamwork as no one can alone accomplish anything without followers and for sure Allah’s help. And the important one is that effective leaders are those who are servant leaders. Good leaders are good followers, humble, piety, truthful, simple and they realize that success only comes from Allah (SWT).

Choosing Leader

11. There is a system of leadership in Islam. So the leaders are to be obeyed, and they call to the truth. May Allah (SWT) give us knowledge and strength to choose our leaders by keeping in view the attributes pointed out by Almighty Allah and Prophet Muhammad (SAW)! Ameen.

Conclusion

12. The leaders are to be obeyed, and they call to the truth. If someone claims to be the leader, they must have the support of the Quran and the Sunnah for their claim that Allah has appointed them as a leader.
