Introduction

1. I decided to analyze the struggle that successful people go through before succeeding. As a result, I managed to identify the most common types of pain almost all successful people feel before they succeed. After retiring as an Army Officer, now I am on the way to build my second career. We know success is a journey. It’s lifelong. It's built with undulating and unpredictable ups and downs, struggle and pain. From my own experience and analyzing few successful people, I could draw the following deductions:

Hard Work Without Results

2. When starting something new, you are usually excited and enjoy the process. But after stumbling into blocks in the form of learning new things and doubt of others about what you do, it will be difficult to continue with the same pace. It feels like you are working a lot but the work never seems ending. This happens with almost everybody because finishing something is harder than starting it. Whether it is starting a business, writing a book or anything you want to achieve, overcoming this pain and finishing what you started is crucial in reaching your goal. You have to take a breath, gather all your energy and go with maximum efforts to finally get what you are working on to market. If you cannot finish what you have started,there cannot be any talk about success.

People Feel Pain

3. Suffering is an integral and essential part of any real pursuit of success. Every successful person travels a painful journey. Be confirm, nothing about success comes easy, but every painful story has the potential to have a successful ending. You may as well accept suffering as a companion, rather than resist it and create more struggle and pain. See each day you are blessed with new chances and opportunities. Stress, anxiety, depression and uncertainty will be with you. Both prompt you to make adjustments to mitigate their effects, mentoring you toward further success. Remember, everything you do, you encounter, you learn, everything you experienced is changing your brain and you are learning new things. Another important point is that, increased difficulties, increased struggle if you practice, you learn more and greater structural changes takes place in your brain.

Losing Relationship

4. There will be a handful of people who will not be willing to support you. Success takes a tremendous amount of effort and sacrifice. The effort and time you need to put into your journey will not be tolerable to some who feel you owe them more of your time, effort or energy. The successful people sacrifice an enormous amount to get to where they want to go, trusting that the people meant to travel their journey with them will accept and support the sacrifices which need to be made. You will likely to lose relationships with those who do not passionately share in your vision.

Giving up Beforehand

5. You will wonder through your more direction less times on your life journey. You will experience intense moments of feeling lost and hopeless. It is during these times, you must hold tight to your vision and take back control of your motivation. You must prepare yourself mentally to keep going when you don’t feel like it. The quickest way to derail your dreams is to quit when things look bleak. Quitting, when you are on the front lines of these critical moments, keeps you living amongst the average.

People will Discourage You

6. There is a saying that you should keep your dreams close to your chest because if you share them you may pillage them to dream stealers. The human brain and mind is programmed to believe the negative. Negative thoughts are extremely contagious and when you set out on the road that you traveled less, you will have an audience full of small minded people trying to scare you and discourage you from chasing your dreams. These are the people who want to instill so much fear in you that you shrink. You have to make yourself immune to these influences when you set out on your quest for success. Work quietly and let your success do the talking.

People will Hate You

7. There are few people you will find who tend to like other successful people. There is a jealousy that comes along with being different, standing out and humbly chasing your dreams. Dealing with jealousy can be difficult, especially if you want to maintain your relationships with certain people, or if they are a big part of your life. Sometimes you may need to let them go. You have to learn to let your haters make you greater. Actually there will always be a certain percentage of people who will not like you no matter who you are or what you do. Use these people and experiences as resiliency training, and reasons to fuel your drive. You should always think that success is always the greatest revenge.

People Will Criticise You

8. It is most likely that there will be people who will criticize you, your business, products or services. Don't bother. Criticism can be objective, which point to the exact drawback of what you offer or biased which is just told by people who don’t like you or your business. The funny part is both of them are good for you. The former tell you where to improve and what to fix. The latter is a free advertisement for you. Even if they criticize, they spread the word and tell about you to others and other people may like you.

You Don't Trust Yourself

9. It's for sure, when you start a new venture or business, you will go in and out of feeling utterly paralyzed. It’s because you don't have trust in yourself. Sometimes you may doubt your knowledge, decisions you have already made and you may doubt your instincts. This doubt creates an internal conflict over what you need to do to move forward. You don't believe yourself because you don’t want to make the wrong decisions and end up in an unrecoverable mistake. Keep in mind there are no unrecoverable mistakes. You must push through your self trust. Doubt derail success. On your journey, trust there is no such thing as wrong. The only wrong choice is not to make one. You will likely always feel some level of self doubt, but you can choose not to doubt your choice to stretch yourself and grow. Doubts are an inevitable part of succeeding.The important thing is that you act in spite of them.

You will Fail

10. You must leap into the void of the unknown and see what happens. When striving for success, you will consistently face choices which involve risk. Risk is, by nature, scary. You may lose your life savings or lose your reputation. You risk criticism and humiliation. You will likely have to pick up the pieces and start all over again, time and again. On any path towards success, sometimes you are likely to give up. Hope is your dope. The rewards can be great, but so can the cost. You will fail and you will have to rise. Each risk gone wrong is really a risk gone well because it leads you in a new direction to take a new risk. Failure helps cultivate the virtue of resiliency which you will need for your long term success. Failure’s purpose is to fine tune your efforts towards success.

It is Worth

11. To achieve anything, you have to think positive about what you are doing. You have to know that what you are doing is right. You have to believe that you will succeed, and you have to trust the process. When the right thoughts and actions are combined there is nothing you cannot achieve. With the right idea, attitude, and thoughts, a struggle really is nothing but another essential component of your success. It all starts with you. When you fall in love with a great idea, fate will push you to follow that path. Your vision can impact the world, but you have to really want it. The vision is the prize, not the money or the end results. That is what you are really here for, isn’t it? To have an impact, to make a difference? You can only know your significance through the impact you have upon others. When you see that your success improves and positively influences the lives of others, it will all be worth it.

No One will Believe You

12. When you decide to take responsibility and chase your dreams, there will be people around you will not believe in you. You will be told that there’s no use, you can’t possibly do it and you are just better off doing something else. Hearing such things is really painful and you may even start to doubt yourselves, your dreams and your capabilities. But their opinion should not make you lose your hopes because the fact they don’t believe in your dreams has nothing to do with you. It is about them. Whatever the goal or dream you have, it is given to you and only you can see it. Therefore, you should trust yourselves and stay true to your goals and dreams.

Obstacles to Success

13. Everyone wants to get success in life. No one sets a goal to fail in life. But sometimes obstacles get in the way of our success. However, obstacles need only slow our progress. We must take in that way that they don't have to mean failure.

14. Here, then, are few obstacles to success and suggestions for overcoming their challenges:

Shortage of Money

15. There are people has firm belief that 'It takes money to make money'. While this may be true to a certain extent. It is considered an obstacle that can be easily overcome. If you have the strong determination and willpower and if you really desire something, you can always find the money. Most of the people can find a handsome amount of money that they squander on wants each month instead of needs. You have to ask yourself what you want. How much do you need?

Proper Attitude

16. Avoid negativity and negative people, starting with yourself. Negative people will drag your energy and hinder your progress. They will slow you down and discourage you. If things are hard, work harder. If you fail, learn from your mistakes. If you focus on problems, you will have more problems. If you focus on solutions, you will have more opportunities.

Inner Conflict

17. This could be an inner conflict within yourself, a conflict with your significant other or a business partner. To be successful you need to follow your passion. Your goals need to be personal. It must be something you desire with all of your heart, mind, and soul. You can't try to do something that goes against your personal ethics and morals. You will be in constant distress and will lack the motivation to do anything.

Distractions

18. Don't allow distractions to get in the way of you achieving your dreams. Distractions are just a form of procrastination. Distractions can be anything from getting up for a cup of coffee, taking the kids to school, talking on the phone or watching TV. If you're working on the internet, it's easy to get caught up going to this site or that one. To read blogs, post comments, watch YouTube … and the list goes on.

Time is Important

19. Everyone is allotted the same amount of time. It's your choice how you spend your time. I often find lack of time is more of an excuse not to do something that you may not really want to do. Everyone seems to find the time to do things they love to do.

Conclusion

20. Success is always built upon risk, change, and personal development. The journey teaches you to cope with failure though failure is the pillar of success. You learn to get up anyway. You push yourself onward towards your dreams. If you want to succeed, you must have the resilience and endurance to face the odds.
