Why and How to Enhance Your Spiritual Ability

Why and How to Enhance Your Spiritual Ability

1. It is certain that our tolerance levels are dropping fast and temper levels are on the rise. For instance - If the telephone does not connect to someone half way around the world in few seconds, we curse the phone lines or the internet company. When the ignition does not work on the stove in an instant, it is we who get angry. The above are basic every day practical things. Again we are quick to judge and hate because we cannot tolerate the other for who they are, or what they represent. As such there is a need to enlarge our heart. The first thing to do is to recognise that our capacity must be enlarged at spiritual level because Almighty Allah want us to be spiritually sound.

Spiritual Capacity

2. Spiritual capacity refers to our relation with Almighty Allah or God, our daily living with righteousness, honesty and integrity. There are blessings Almighty Allah is not likely to give unless we are spiritually matured. We have to study his words, abide by His order in terms of prayer, fasting and other relevant matters entrusted on us. To develop our capacities spiritually, here are some points we may need to take note of:

Shortcomings

3. A deeper aspect to the negative thoughts is when I have impatience in dealing with myself and my personality, and especially my negative habits. I strive to prove that I don’t really want anything or I don't need anyone because of not wanting to face or manage my own shortcomings. I feel that I am not good at conversation, and therefore I don’t need to speak to anyone. I say no to better opportunities that come my way for fear of failure. Avoidance means that I am not stretching my boundaries or limits, nor I am learning or growing. My fear, laziness, or selfishness is keeping me stuck at some point. Enhancing capacity is all about taking risks and pushing myself to go the extra mile, and not taking the easy way out by remaining firmly within my comfort zone. To enhance spiritual ability, I have to take a deeper look at myself to see my own shortcomings. Only then I shall be able to progress.

Praying to God

4. We must realise that we need an enlarged capacity, hence we ask Almighty Allah for it. If we have the desire and if we are able to ask from Him religiously. we will get that for sure.

Challenging Present Situation

5. We need to challenge our current spiritual life, our mental life, financial as well as physical life. We need to extend ourselves. We need to believe Allah for more for the impossible. We have to enlarge our faith capacity, our believe capacity and love capacity. If we are not happy with where we are and who we are, then we have do something we’ve never done. We need to pull out of a predictable routine to come out of our comfort zone. We have to step out of our current boundary and stretch ourselves. We need to leave the familiar to embrace the new.

Extending Capability

6. Extending the capability and capacity of the soul is essential in order to deal with life in today’s world, but it requires a deep level of understanding and commitment of my own self progress. Whatever situation I am faced with, I can ask myself as to what can I learn from this? Why has this situation arisen in front of me and not for someone else. And when we really learn the lesson of humility, we may also ask, not only what can I learn but also, what can I give? I grow spiritually by giving. For example, I can’t receive love, or respect, until I give it first.

Expanding Vision

7. We have to expand your vision. We need to enlarge in order for us to come into all that Almighty Allah has for us. Let the word of Almighty Allah be the lens with which we see life. We have to stop looking at our life based on our background and our economic conditions. Rather, we need to begin to see our life based on what Allah’s word says about us. Every day we should pass with the feeling that we have learnt something new and grown from it. Even if my learning is just to see something in a new light or gain a new perspective, at least we have expanded our thinking. This cannot happen if we always believe that we are the one who is right and therefore no one can teach us anything. We need to be open and engaging otherwise our capacity shrinks rather than expands.

Go Beyond Comfort Zone

8. We need to get out of our comfort zone and resist procrastination and passivity. We have to be motivated and sober minded. We should not compromise or complain but rejoice and make a stand. Let our yes be yes, and our no be no.

Grow Big

9. We are who we think we are. Let our thoughts line up with the word. Let us dream big, think big, enlarge our mind, challenge our thinking, think success, enlargement and expansion.

Be Discerning

10. In order to enlarge our capacity, we must be discerning. We must choose who we move with and what we entertain around us. We have to make sure that we only allow for what will make a positive difference in our life.

Conclusion

11. This is our time to go beyond and experience enlargement. May our capacity be commensurate with the blessings that Almighty Allah is bringing our way. We have to grow large, grow wide, go beyond, make more room, increase capacity, break out, breakthrough, expand, go further, occupy new territories where there is no limits, no boundaries thinking bigger, broadened and robust. It's the season to stretch our capacity, by dropping the ego and by accommodating and adjusting, being flexible and flowing. As we expand out of our comfort zone, we will truly feel we are living and not just living for ourselves. There is a lot life can teach me if I am willing to learn.
